Speakers include experts from the environment and energy world and high-ranking academics. The first lectio magistralis of the new and improved 2014/2015 edition of ‘Fiat Likes U’, the project launched in 2012 by Fiat and the Italian Ministry of Education with the patronage of the Italian Ministry for the Environment, were held in the universities of Turin and Pisa this week. The major news is that this edition will be expanded to include five European universities, to total no fewer than 15 universities and involve approximately 700,000 students.
The first lectio magistralis entitled “Researches on image and communication efficacy” was held at Pisa University on Wednesday 21 May. Lecturers were Simone Ballarini, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Market Research & Analysis Manager and Professor Alessandro Gandolfo, Dean of the School of Marketing and Market Research.
Thursday 22 May was the turn of Turin Polytechnic with the lecture entitled “Development and application of lightweight technologies on a high-performance vehicle”. It was held at the "Cittadella del Design e della Mobilità Sostenibile" by Mauro Pierallini (R&D - EMEA Product Development - Head of Product Development - Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) and professors of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Giancarlo Genta and Giovanni Belingardi.
The events in Turin and Pisa are the first two of the 'FIAT Likes U' programme. One lesson will be held by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles designers, engineers and managers in each of the universities involved in the project. The objective is to put the excellences of an international group at the service of young students to contribute in a concrete manner to their education. The lectures will be broadcast in live streaming on the http://www.ustation.it/fiatlikesu website. Later on, the videos will be available on the project's Youtube channel. The interesting lectio magistralis programme is an integral part of ‘Fiat Likes U 2014’ which aims at repeating the success of the first edition by offering a comprehensive, practical and simple initiative which is packed with opportunities in terms of mobility, education and employment. More in detail, the involved students may use a fully free car sharing service featuring a fleet of 500L Beats Edition, 500L Trekking and Panda 4x4 models. These vehicles are completely new and encapsulate all of Fiat’s experience in sustainable, accessible mobility. Some features also make them ideal for car sharing, such as five doors, the great interior space and the flexibility of use.
A student – the Fiat Ambassador, who will receive a 2000 euro wage – will be responsible for coordinating the car sharing service at each university. And that is not all. The two best Fiat Ambassadors will be awarded with a Fiat on free loan for one month. Furthermore, Fiat is offering from one to five paid on-the-job training schemes for each university involved in the project.
The cars in the “Fiat Likes U 2014” car sharing fleet all fit eco:Drive, the eco-friendly application developed by Fiat in 2009. The system analyses driving style by collecting onboard data and supplies personalised tips with the objective of reducing CO2 emissions and fuel consumption by up to 16%. The best eco:Driver of all the students in the “Fiat Likes U” car sharing project will win a Fiat on free loan for one month and a free ticket for EXPO 2015 of which Fiat S.p.A. and CNH Industrial are Official Global Partners.
