- Official Sponsor for the Italian Olympic Committee for the 2012-2014 three-year period, Fiat will be at the side of Italian athletes in Russia too, after following them to the 2012 London Olympics and the 2013 Mersin Mediterranean Games
In the captivating setting of the Quirinale, today the President of the Italian Republic handed the nation's flag to Italy's Olympic bearer Armin Zöggeler and Paralympic bearer Andrea Chiarotti for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi (Russia). The evocative ceremony saw the participation of a delegation of athletes and important figures from the world of sports and politics, in addition to Giovanni Malagò, President of the CONI (Italian Olympic Committee), and Luca Pancalli, President of the Italian Paralympic Committee.
Official sponsor of the Italian Olympic Committee for the 2012-2014 three-year period, the brand will make a fleet of cars available to the Italian team. After the 2012 London Olympics and the 2013 Mersin Mediterranean Games, Fiat will also be at 'Casa Italia', the CONI headquarters at Sochi, and play an active part in the initiatives that will be organised there.
Brought together to accompany the Italian athletes, the fleet will be made up of Fiat models, with the 500L, 500L Trekking and Freemont standing out. The last car played an important role today, together with certain Italian athletes, in a photo shoot in the Stadio dei Marmi, and it will tomorrow as well, when the CONI award ceremony takes place. This will see Golden Medals, Plaques of Honour, Star and Golden Palm awarded to athletes, technicians and managers for 2012 and 2013, at the CONI Hall of Honour in the presence of Graziano Delrio - Minister for Regional Affairs, Self-governing Areas and Sport - and Presidents Giovanni Malagò and Luca Pancalli.
Already 'Official Car' of the Italian National Football and Basketball Teams, the Fiat Freemont is a new way to experience the car capable of facing up to any situation that everyday life might bring thanks to its multi-faceted soul. At the same time, it's a spacious, convenient and versatile vehicle for hectic everyday life but also suitable for leisure time and the requirements of customers with an active, sporty life. Thanks to its 7 seats and 32 seat configurations, the Freemont is all the cars you want, as its slogan suggests. And its modern approach to interpreting customer requirements has permitted the Freemont to head up the sales rankings throughout Europe while, in Italy, it's been the best selling 7-seater in its segment for 28 months running.
The Fiat Freemont range is made up of 3 trim levels (Freemont, Urban and Lounge), two drive systems (front or active "on demand" all-wheel - AWD), two transmission (manual or automatic, both with 6 speeds) and three engine versions: the 2.0 MultiJet II 16v units with power of 140 HP and 170 HP and a 280 HP 3.6-litre petrol engine.
Sponsorship of the Italian Olympic Committee once more confirms the strong link between Fiat and the world of sport: the brand has taken various opportunities to connect its image to many disciplines practised at all levels, including football, basketball, car racing, motorcycle racing, athletics and winter sports on snow and ice. The Fiat brand is currently involved on several fronts. In particular, it is the proud Top Sponsor of the National Football Teams for the forthcoming 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
