Fiat at the 62nd Frankfurt International Motor Show

Fiat will be present, from 13 to 23 September, at the 62nd edition of the Frankfurt International Motor Show.

Breadth of vision and a strong visual impact, essential styling and soft forms are the distinguishing features of the Fiat stand, with a colour scheme based on the Italian tricolour flag, and with three corresponding thematic areas: a green area, showing Fiat’s environmental credentials; a white area, embodying the fascinating spirit of Fiat’s new image, represented by the Fiat 500; and a red area, symbolising the brand’s sporting passion, as represented by the Abarth Scorpion.

Respect for the environment is one of the driving principles behind the development of Fiat’s new models, starting with the Panda Aria concept car, representing a genuine ‘green manifesto’, and confirming the brand’s commitment to the search for and development of innovative solutions for cutting harmful emissions and CO2 levels, with the record-breaking result of 69 g/km. The stand’s green area will also be playing host to the Panda Climbing and Multipla Natural Power 360° Special Edition, ambassadors for the impressive Natural Power range, cars featuring dual-power petrol/methane engines. Naturally, the Grande Punto and Bravo will also be there, fitted with the brand new 1.4 Turbo T-Jet 120 bhp and 150 bhp engines; these new-generation engines stand as proud examples of Fiat’s determination to continue developing traditional engines, but also to its respect for the environment: culminating in Fiat’s concrete commitment to achieve the lowest average level of CO2 emissions for its cars by the year 2012. To do so, it is focusing on engines and transmissions featuring the Stop & Start structure, a mechanism that reduces fuel consumption in the urban cycle by over 10%.

Visitors to the Frankfurt Motor Show will also have an opportunity to get to know several other devices and systems designed to promote environmentally-friendly driving. For example, making its very first appearance in the motoring world, the brand has come up with a sophisticated application that analyses the motorist’s driving style and offers tips on how to drive greener: using the USB port on the versatile Blue&Me system, the motorist’s driving style is monitored, and the results are converted into digital form using a normal USB pen drive. Customers can then analyse in detail the fuel consumption and emissions for each journey they make, and be given tips about how to drive with less environmental impact and become part of a wider community of eco-friendly drivers.

The white area of the stand will be entirely dedicated to the Fiat 500, which is a clear statement of intent for Fiat’s future. For its first appearance at an international motor show, Fiat’s latest creation will be launched in a highly original way: a scale model of the Fiat 500 has been produced, 5 times bigger than the real-life version, which visitors can walk through accompanied by sounds, lights and films, and with 5 Fiat 500s constantly on the move (two Sport versions with the 1.4 16v 100 bhp engine, 2 Lounge versions with the 1.3 Multijet and 1.4 16v engines, and a Pop version with the 1.3 Multijet engine).
Featuring brilliant colours, totally in keeping with the spirit of the new model, the five Fiat 500s on show will combine to create a thrilling carousel, which visitors can join simply by getting into the cars. All in all, a unique, thrilling setting which is sure to capture the public’s imagination.

The red area is totally dedicated to the Scorpion: it shows the racing word and Abarth projects.
